Dear human friend.

What is falling when we are not really daring to let go of what is holding us?

What is meeting the darkness when we are meeting it in the territory we know?

What is that talk about burning down to our ashes and rising like a phoenix when we pull the hand back before it touches the hot oven?

Here we are in a world between worlds. We are borderliners, not wanting to stay in the old realm. Not daring to step into the new.

“Borderline Personality Disorder” (BPD) is used in describing a mental illness in psychiatry and the term “borderline” has been debated on for decades by now. BPD is supposed to be a clinical diagnosis, meaning an observation not a judgement. It is thought to be brought about by both, genetic and environmental influences together. This means, that in those moments when we are predetermined to be highly sensitive, and certain events happen to us, such as those involving emotional, physical and sexual abuse, we develop an increasing risk of finding the state of borderline. And once we found it, it drags us in, we are almost addicted to it. Then we live in a world between worlds.
