Plato’s Cave. A human life.

A conversation with Gaia.

“One day,” Gaia spoke, “one day humankind became aware of his physical and energetical weaknesses comparing himself to all other beings around, and as such of his mental strengths. He decided to trade. Intuition for intelligence. Trust for doubt. Encountering the unknown for controlling the known. Consciousness of what might be magic for knowledge of what can be explained. Open space for closed rooms. Being for becoming someone else. Timelessness for deadlines. Letting go for craving. Imagining for creating tight mindsets.

That was the first day for a humankind, that imprisoned himself into a self-made replica of Plato’s Cave. The gaze in one direction. The light behind him, creating pictures he was able to deal with as projection on the walls ahead of him.”

“One day, many thousand years later,” I replied, “a courageous human being, or some hundreds of them, maybe even thousands, unchained themselves and decided to leave that self-made cave in order to see what lies beyond. For that cave was only a preparation. A preparation that would allow us to become aware of the beauty beyond what we had called a beautiful life up until then.”

“How do you know?” Gaia asked.

“I know,” I said, “because I am one of those human being you are talking about. And I am working with other human beings on a daily base. And I am part of the cave as you call it. And this cave is what we call life. And this life as we call it, is what we create ourselves ever since we can think. You referred to it as mental strength. We create and then we adapt to our own creations. We have been doing so ever since. By now, our creativity has reached a point which makes adapting to a challenge. Our exponential creativity has become harmful for us as individuals and for the planet as a whole. At the same time, we are becoming more and more aware of the fences we have surrounded ourselves with and some of us realize now that we have accumulated all these skills for a reason. Crises are transforming into chances. And the planet’s collective wisdom allows us to gather in courage and walk beyond the known into the unknown. I see awareness rising, I sense miracles happening, I see trust growing, I see unconditional love thriving. Humankind is ready to leave the cave, to realize the eternity of the horizon and to reconciliate with a new life and all the other beings in all universes once more.”

“When?” Gaia questioned. “When shall that be?”

“Just now.” I answered. “Just now.”

“How could they see anything but the shadows if they were never allowed to move their heads?” Plato
